About Us

Welcome to Remick! Join us on our historic farm grounds to explore over 200 years of rural living and the history of country doctors, as we preserve the agricultural way of life in New Hampshire.

OVERVIEW
Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is a historic site and working farm, featuring exhibits, gardens, walking trails and more. Visit to explore 200+ years of NH’s agricultural traditions combined with the unique story of two country doctors, Dr. Edwin Remick and his son Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick.

We offer family-friendly activities, seasonal learning, adult workshops and special events. Remick has twice been named an “Editors’ Pick: Best of New England” by Yankee Magazine and voted a “Family Favorite” by the readers of Parenting NH Magazine.

Your safety while visiting is important to us. While on-site, please take note of posted signs and guidelines. Do not climb on historical features—including stone walls—and use caution where electric fencing is used.

“My favorite museum. I learn something new every time!”

The Museum & Farm

Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm is the only country doctor museum in New England and one of only three in the United States. We’re located on the grounds of a picturesque, historic dairy farm in the village of Tamworth, New Hampshire.

THE MUSEUM

    • The Museum Center is open for self-guided tours of the NEW! History of Remick Farm: Family & Farm, A Glimpse of a Country Doctor’s Medical Practice and Tourism in Tamworth exhibits, located on the lower levels of the Edwin C. Remick House. Tours of Edwin “Doc” and Marion Remick’s second-floor apartment are included with the Extended Remick Country Doctor Medical History Tour.
    • The Captain Enoch Remick House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is open for guided Remick Country Doctor Medical History Tours.
    • NOTE: Extensive maintenance work is currently under way and may impact access to buildings.

 THE FARM

    • Your visit to the farmstead features aspects of a traditional dairy farm. This includes our dairy herd and related barns. The site was once home to Hillsdale Dairy Farm, started by Doc Remick in the 1930s and maintained until the early 1960s.
    • Today, we also raise a small herd of dairy goats, beef cattle, chickens and sheep, and are home to a miniature horse named Sadie.
    • We grow vegetables, herbs, and a Children’s Garden—all as interactive exhibits. The Marion Remick Memorial Garden graces the front of the Museum Center Barn.
    • Join us for a goat hike, guided farm and nature tours, and/or other seasonal activities (in season, scheduled times; admission charged).
    • Your self-led exploration opportunities are nearly endless! Enjoy getting to know the farm and the animals that live here. Learn about our history through exhibits in the Museum Center (summer season). Spend time at our picnic spots, or walk the Binsack Trail. All for a pay-as-you-wish admission.

Respectful of the past.    Vital in the present.    Preserving for the future.
